Entrepreneur and Design Manager (E-designer)

You learn to combine creative thinking with a sound basis of business skills and knowledge during the innovation process. Practical skills include design and logistics planning, concept development, marketing, branding, visual solutions, internet communication, product development, 2D and 3D graphics.

Entrepreneurship and Design Management (E-Design) is a 2-year AP-degree, which includes mandatory subjects, an area of specialization, a 3-month internship and a final project.

What you learn

With this education you are able to plan a company’s design projects, from the initial idea to production and delivery, as well as work with marketing of the concepts.

You will be working with areas such as idea generating, design processes, trends, innovation and trade. At the same time, you get tools to produce graphical materials and prototypes.

You learn about design trends, usability and internet-based communication, and you get knowledge about starting your own business.

Career opportunities

Once you've graduated, you can find employment within many different types of businesses - anywhere there's a need for creative thinking, such as in advertising.

As an e-designer, your work-related projects are very likely to be within development, sales and marketing of interior design or graphical production.

This degree is a very good choice if you have dreams of creating your own company, or becoming a freelancer who works on various different projects.

Study environment and teaching method

Teaching takes place in classes comprising between 25 and 35 students, giving you an excellent opportunity to enjoy a thriving social life with your fellow students. You will experience teaching approaches emphasising theory as well as practice.

The instruction is based on projects, many of which take place in cooperation with local and national businesses, and the tasks are normally carried out in groups. You must be prepared to make an independent effort and to cooperate with your fellow students.

Some of the project tasks, and the final project in particular, are independent tasks carried out on the basis of the theory that you have learned. The projects should be based on specific cases from businesses, insofar as this is possible. You will be given good advice and constructive criticism along the way.

Internship

During the fourth semester you must complete a 3-month internship, which can be taken in Denmark or anywhere in the world - further enhancing your employment prospects. You are responsible for finding your internship yourself, or you can make use of our network in Denmark or abroad.

International opportunities

When studying E-Design, you have various options for gaining additional international experience. You can study abroad for a semester. We have many partner schools to choose from, or you can find your own.

If you only want shorter periods outside Denmark, you can go on study trips with your fellow students for a week. If you like competitions, there is an International Business Week, in which the participants are divided into groups of different nationalities and different schools, and must then solve a given assignment.

Further education

On successful completion of this AP degree in Entrepreneurship and Design Management, you can use your credits to complete a bachelor in Design and Business or E-concept Development in Denmark, or you can choose to study in another country.

Admission requirements

To be accepted to the programme, you must have an education equivalent to a Danish upper secondary education, or relevant vocational education is required. English and mathematics must be included.

How to apply

Please note that all applicants must write a motivation letter and pass an admission test to be admitted to the program.

Admittance procedure the E-Design program:

• A motivated application should be submitted by 15^th of March.
• After the submission deadline you will receive an email with information about the admission test and relevant deadlines.
• On the day of the admission test you will receive the test via email.
• After the admission test we will call you in for an interview.
• On the 30^th of June you receive notice on whether you've been admitted to the program.  ​

Application fee

As from the summer intake 2017, all non-EU citizens without a Danish permanent residence permit must pay an application fee of 750 DKK. IBA must receive the application fee before the application deadline, otherwise your application will not be evaluated. The application fee will not be deducted in any form, it is not a guarantee for admission and it is not refundable if the student is not admitted.

Financial issues

Tuition fee
Danish, Nordic, EU and EEA students: Free of charge.

Other students: DKK 75,000 per year (DKK 37,500 per semester).

Students who are exchanged between IBA and other institutions where bilateral exchange agreements exist are exempt from paying study fees to IBA.

Scholarships
