Chinese Language Course for Children, 4-12 years - Sønderborg
The course is designed for children between the ages of 4 and 12. The teaching of Mandarin Chinese begins with playful tools and games. The pupils engage in game-like activities and within a short time become familiar with the Chinese language. Without even realising, they are learning a second language; the children follow storybook adventures such as the “Chinese Paradise (1-3)”. Spoken Chinese and Pinyin are practised and enhanced through songs, stories and nursery rhymes, and modelled and explored as the children take part in various role-plays.

The course is based on topics in the textbook “Chinese Paradise (1-3)” and other chosen storybooks for children.
Aim of the Course
The aim of this class is to expose children to Chinese as second language and help them learn about Chinese culture. Hearing a story, listening to music, or learning a few words in Chinese will give the children the skills for appreciating it now and learning to speak it later. Learning Chinese as second language is not only a linguistic activity but also a cognitive one, which involves memorising rules and vocabulary, which helps strengthen their mental muscle. When children join the preschool Chinese class, they are exposed to Chinese and English too.
